Offset Grid was the outcome of a performance piece for an exhibition at Seventeen Gallery in January 2019. Richard sat for the duration of the exhibition and used intricately hand-embroidered individual stitches to mark the time. The printed grid, and the vertical seamed and stitched line are the starting point. The work is defined by the materials, created through the random process of embroidery and the action of the hand, generating variations with self-imposed restrictions to imply and manifest the passage of time.
Work is framed and mounted / White wood frame with protective UV glass.
Hand embroidery / Cotton on Wool / 32 x 21cm (unframed) / 42 x 30cm (framed)
